Overview of this DVD: This is a film that's quite evidently for an American audience. You have an Independence Day speech by the President of the United States, making America feel good about themselves. You have the typical English stereo-types. Guess what, English people don't all say "Jolly good" and "Tally ho". But, for it's faults, Independence Day is a good film. It's got the feel-good factor (The human race defending the planet against an alien attack), it's got the odd comic moment, too. A generally all-round good film. Here's the official word about the film

One of the biggest box office hits of all time delivers the ultimate encunter when powerful aliens launch an invasion against the human race. The spectacle begins when massive spaceships appear. Wonder turns to terror as the ships blast destructive beams of fire down on cities all over the planet. Now the worl's only hope lies with determined survivors, uniting for one last strike against the invaders - before it's the end of mankind.
